My young’n was on a self-destructive warpath, just a few months ago, and was abusing substances as well as neglecting his family. I saw the tweets that he posted, and I knew that I had to see him for myself. He was in a terrible condition. I called his parents in Matatiele to tell them that the situation was dire, and that I feared that his sons could lose him to the illness that is addiction: to ‘em things’ as he puts it in one of his songs, iThemba…I was just glad that he survived, and he’s been clean for 2-months now.”
